    hi
ok people, I have a strange one for you all. I sincerely doubt it is possible BUT - I would like to know if there is any program available free or otherwise that will make short work of a 'smear'.
I'm sure some of you have seen shows broadcast where the time or the day has been smeared or pixelated, or the logo from another broadcaster has been covered by another? what I'd like to do is TRY and remove that type of effect to reveal the underlying video.
what I'm thinking I'm going to read alot of is: 'if you dont have the unedited video, you cannot restore the video to a condition better than you have' but I am eager to read / hear any and all suggestions/ thoughts/ and ideas.

thank you all very much for your time

Once the damage is done, you can't go back. There is nothing there to recover. If you really want the logo back you could probably paste it in with Virtualdub's logo filter or some other similar program.

hi, thanks for the reply, I wasnt sure anyone would have any suggestions overnight while I was at work.
I think I'm obsessing... I was wondering if anyone HAD made any suggestions all night while working. regardless...
I came up with another idea, if anyone could give me imput on this -
is it possible to go frame by frame and superimpose an image over the blur? I seem to recall a post from another member that was something akin to that - I believe it was posting his mothers head over the charater 'trinity' from the matrix trilogy.
I realize this could be a pain in the ass to go frame by frame.. and frankly I wouldnt even know how to start, but... in theory.. that could work too right?
(that been said, communism works in theory too...)

    thanks again

  4. To do what you are describing in your initial post requires a "Hollywood" computer. By that I don't mean a computer used to make Hollywood movies, but one of those magical computers featured in Hollywood movies. You know, the ones that let you see a person's face when only the back of the head was filmed, etc.

I gotta get me one of those...

  5. Get something like Paintshop Pro's Animation Shop.
    Open the avi.
Paste/change frame by frame, then resave as an avi.
