I noticed that my dvd-r's will begin to freeze up and start to skip about 45-60 mins into the movie. It happens on multiple dvd stand alone players but all at different times. It seems to be a "heat issue" If i let the player cool down and then start the movie from the same position it will play only to start to skip when it gets warm again. I think it is a media problem? I am using Imation 4xdvd-r with a ritech media code. I switched to fujifilm (prodisc s03 media code) which "seems" to work but i cannot find blank so3s anymore. I use dvd shrink and copytodvd with the tdk 4x burner. I am considering buying 8x ty's dvd-r but do not want the same problem.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
New media? New dvd player? etc

  2. Sounds like a bad dye job on the media, however I have yet to find a bad batch of FujiFilm 120/go RICOJPNs.

I did find some Memorex +r 8x 50 pk spindles (dark purple wrapper) and made in Taiwan (yeah I know blah blah but never had problems with Taiwan's like others) that sported the prodisc s03 code, so that might be a new place to look for them.

If you want high quality 4x DVD-R media, try here:

    http://supermediastore.com/taiyo-yuden-4x-dvd-r-media-silver-matte-spindles.html

Taiyo Yuden TYG01 4x DVD-R, 100 for $32.99 delivered. The last 100 pack that I ordered came in yesterday, and proved to be TYG02, not TYG01, which certainly made me a happy camper! I wouldn't depend on it happening again, though.

Hiya Dup. If as you say ritek media code, then thats the problem. Nothing to do with heat. Riteks are now synonymous with crap. Do as Henry says and get yourself the TY's.
