Does anyone have an specific preferences for HR-S9911 settings when making a digital copy of an old VHS tape

    S-VHS ET : ON - OFF
VIDEO CALIBRATION : ON - OFF
    DIGITAL R3 : ON - OFF
VIDEO STABILIZER : ON - OFF
    S-VHS MODE : ON - OFF

    etc. etc.

The HR-S9911U is the source, ie; my setup is as follows:

    HR-S9911U -- TBC-1000 -- DSR-11

    Thanks.

ET is for recording SVHS on VHS tape
Only do that if using good tapes (like TDK EHG)

    Calibraion ON, controlled by MODE.
I use AUTO most time. SOFT can remove noise
    Leave on EDIT to record.

    Stabilizer cannot coexist with TBC.
    Not often needed, actually.
    Off during recording.

S-VHS, again, for S-VHS recording (or ET)

    DNR/TNC .. on

  3. one addt'l comment would be that sometimes I find the stabilizer helps ... maybe not often, but if you feel like it, watch a few mins w/ the tbc/dnr and the same few w/ the stabilizer and see which you like better

And sometimes, having both stabilizer/TBC off, and unit in EDIT mode can help too, on really ragged tapes.
