  1. I have dvds with 10 hours on them, and want to put them on a DVDR, what DVD TO DVDR Program can handle this task, any suggestion is good.

  2. Don't even THINK about it, split it to two DVDs. 5 hours on one Single layer disc is already more than anyone would suggest to begin with, let alone 10 hours(!).

You can do a kind of sloppy job of it using DVD Shrink and VOBblanker to blank out parts of each disc, but there are better programs out there to do it. I don't know of any easy, all-in-one solutions that are freeware though, but a search through the 'tools' section on the right will give you some ideas if you want to buy a program to do it.

  4. Thanks for the reply, well I thought so too 10 hours is a lot, it episodes from a series so i will just split it in half then, here is a thing, when i opened it with dvdshrink it could not compress it, the graph on top would show red at even the lowest encoding rate.

Yikes! What single DVD out there has 10 hours of video on it? Is it an official DVD and what is the show of?

I have a hard time believing any company would be crazy enough to try and fit THAT much onto a single disc. 10 hours is way too much even for DL standards, the quality would'nt be too great either.

  7. Use VOBblanker to blank out half of the episodes for each disc. Or if you want to do it the lazy way, use shrink to blank out half the episodes for each disc by using still images. You may want to create a blank, single colored 72x480 image for the still frames, though, as the more detail on the stills the more space they'll take up. VOBblanker will allow you to completely blank some of the episodes but might be a bit more confusing if you've never used it.

If for some strange reason all the episodes are shown as only 1 title on the disc instead of separate titles, you can use 'reauthor' in Shrink and cut off half and half for each disc, but you'll lose any menus doing that.

    10-hours on a DVD-9 would be VCD quality ... 1150 kbs x 10-hours x 3600-sec/hr x 1 Byte/8-bits x 1 MB / 1024-KB x 1 GB / 1024-MB = 4.9-GB. So I'd say the average bit rate could be as high as 2000 kbs.

If I remember right, my original DVD of the Lonesome Dove mini-series was about 8 hours. But that DVD was double-sided, double-layer, giving about 4 hours on each side. I can't even imagine any commercial DVD with 10 hours on one side, it boggles the mind...
