  1. Im trying to burn media that is over 6 gb's on a dual layer disc using nero 6.6. It gives me a message before I burn that says that my file does not fit on a normal dvd, and that you need a dvd9 disc to record this project. I have a dl disc already in my burner. Do i still proceed with the burn or will it screw up? I paid 39.00 for 3 dl dvd's, and don't want to waste them.

  7. Any reason why you haven't considered DVDDecrypter ISO Read > ISO Write? Since SP2 and all the updates to nero and weird complaints...Well, not sure I'd trust it yet with a DL disc, $9-$10 buck a pop.

Good luck. BTW, if you try my suggestion, reset DVDDecrypter to defaults, just in case. Then enter write speed 2.4x. Works fine for me.

P.S.: The above goes if this is a movie backup. For original authored material, search recent posts on getting layer break set correctly. Seems to be a debateable point right now as to the best way to do it.

[EDIT] $39 bucks for three? Must be Canadian dollars. Ouch.

  8. yes...its in canadian dollars

this dvd is authored by me (original). From reading the posts, I take it that you can't do a layer break (nero must do it automatically). How do I make a layer break with with dvddecryptor (or any other program)?. Do I need to make an image first of file and then do the layer break?

  9. Edmund Blackadder had a thread recently about it. IIRC, he recommends setting layer break in DVDMaestro and burning DVDfiles as data with RecordNow 7.2.

The only DLs I've burned have been movie backups, sorry. In DVDDecrypter > Settings > ISO Write Mode, you can set layer break automatically or manually. You want to be the one that tells us how well it works? Or Nero.

Maybe someone else who can be more help will chime in.

  10. Well, ill let you guys know with Nero. I'll tell you this so far, at 50% recording, it started burning on the 2nd layer. My mpeg2 file is around 6.26 gb's. I did not put any dummy files on it either. Also, the file is an .nrg (nero). Will be interesting where the break must be. My video is around 1 hr and 50 minutes, so I will check my dvd at the 50-55 minute mark.

Be careful with recode in DL format,I tried a Dl with prior version of recode, however the newset version of the nero rom have been updated, movie will not play in any of my 5 stand alone players.

  12. Ok, throughout the whole burn process with nero, it was burning at 4x (typical for the nec 3520). The dvd was well burnt, no errors. I used Vegas 5 and the quality is excellent (I burned it on HQ). Unfortunately I do not know where the layer break is (I didn't notice anything), but I will find it soon.

Total burn time: 20 minutes and 17 secs

I am not trying out the DVDMaestro method, too complicated for me at the moment.
