  1. Hi,

I have a DVD with bad sectors on it. I used DVD Decrypter and Isobuster. It took many hours to extract even a 1-minute length of bad sector of DVD. It seems impossible to pass through the entire bad sector , which is about 10 minutes in length. Does anyone have an idea how to solve the problem? Is there any better ripping tool to rip DVD with bad sectors?

    Thank you,
    Jean

  4. Thank you for your reply.

I first tried DVDROM, it didn't read at all. Then I tried DVD+RW writer to read. I did select ignore options. As matter of fact, the number of errors after a few hours of attemps reached up to 5000. It is okay to ignore the error portion. How to pass the error portion, and read the rest of VOB?

    Thanks,
    Jean

did you try out VOB BLANKER? if you did and it didn't work then try out the disc in a friends pc.
one of the reasons why i have so many different dvdrw and dvdrom, they all have their own unique capabilities when it comes to discs that can't be read correctly or read at all.

  6. If the disc is physically scratched then you need to remove the scratches with a disc doctor or some similar device. If the bad sectors are due to some kind of copy protection use the latest "unlocking" products such as DVD Decryptor or AnyDVD which will defeat that form of protection

  7. Hi,

Thank you for all of your reply.

I tried VOB Blanker -- it didn't work.

There is no physical scratch on the disc. It seems it has something to do with double layer disc since the problem occurs about the mid-point of entire disc (disc is 2 layer with >7GB in size). Once it passed that point it can read the rest of the disc with ease. The problem is that I can't read the VOB at middle.

    Another question:
Is there any way to rip a disc from a DVD drive which is on the local network, but not directly connected to your PC? I tried SmartRip and DVDdecrypter. Both of them can't recognize the mapped DVD driver.

    Thank you,
    Jean

i would suggest you try using someone elses dvdrom or dvd burner. i've had discs that couldn't be ripped with my dvdroms but my plextor 708a drive was able to read the disc with no problems.
