    I've been using this guide, https://www.videohelp.com/tmpgencdvd.htm to try to encode my DivX/Avi files to a format that I can author them using DVDAuthorGUI or TMPGEnc DVD Author. It says that if you are using .avi files with Ac3 audio (which I mostly am) then you need the AC3 ACM Decompressor. Is this a piece of software that is needed to decompress AC3 audio with another program(such as i need this in order to use Virtual dub to extract the Ac3 audio into a wav file)? or is the AC3 ACM Decompressor the actual program itself. Because when I install it, nothing happens. I dont get a program in the start menu or program files or anything, after I click the install button, something flashes(like the progress bar but its real fast) then its back to normal as if I didnt do anything.

    Also, using TMPGEnc, how would I encode a movie that was broken into two or three .avi files with ac3? It seems that I can only do one file at a time. Is there anyway to do all two or three files at the same time to ensure that they will all fit onto one dvd?

  2. Hello seals
    You are correct in assuming the AC3 ACM Decompressor is a piece of software needed to decode AC3 files and not the actual program itself. It is especially useful in virtual dub to decompress AC3 files to WAV files. If you want to join multiple avi files use this guide;
    http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/14/59/. You can then use one of the bit rate calculators found in the tools section to calculate the correct bit rate needed to fit your film on a DVD. I would also decompress the AC3 audio to a wav files when saving the newly joined avi files. TMPG works better with WAV audio. Choose audio>full processing mode. Good luck.
