I just encoded a movie using the main menu: importing .d2v and .wav files (and NTSC DVD setting: 8000 kbps) and it came out to 565 MB.
I did the same thing using the project wizard and the file came out to 1.3 GB. (I double checked everything on GSPOT). ?

1.3 gig will not fit on a CD (.7gig) just as 565 Meg will not fit on a DVD. Not knowing what program you are using does not give us much of a clue. Try stepping through the Wizard and look at the drop down boxes for details about what it is trying to do for you.

565 MB will fit on a DVD! I encoded a clip two different ways (main menu and project wizard) on TMGPEnc using exactly the same parameters (frame size, bitrate, etc.) and I got two different file sizes and I don't know why.

Yes, 565 MB will fit on a dual layer DVD.

    You say you used the same parameters. . . . and they are ? ? ? ?

I'm pretty sure that a 565MB file will fit on ANY dvd, and further, ANY CD - assuming they're not 'mini'. DVD's hold 4,700MB while CD's hold 650-700MB. Where's the debate?

As for the conversion file size... have you tried playing both files? Are they both the same length? Or does one freek out at the end (displaying the same frame over and over)?

If one is too long, I've noticed that TMPGEnc sometimes mis-estimates the length of the video. I've found this most with .avi's. While I'm stepping thru the wizard, at the last step, it says the resulting video file is 3hrs long, while I know the video is only 1hr. I compensate for this by selecting 'clip frame' in the options, then once you're in that window, click 'move to end frame'. Then click 'set as end frame'. You should see the total time of the clip displayed at the top. If this isn't your problem, I don't have any other advice. Good luck.

565 MB is .565Gig or there about and not 5.65Gig.

There is no debate or any useful information to diagnose an issue that is only implied.

I guess I should have let Sifaga query the database, "Whats the Question "

And maybe you could make some sense and stop wasting our time.

  10. What settings did you use to encode on the main menu? Post some screen shots with Gspot so we can see the difference.
