Thank you for any help or suggestions you can give!

I am trying to convert a Div-X file to VCD/MPEG-1. I am using:

    - Windows XP
    - TMPGEnc 2.01
    - Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum (VCD Creator) with XP patches

I can successfully convert the DivX to an MPEG-1 that is VCD-compatible. When I open the mpg up with the Roxio program, it is willing to create a VCD with the file. Unfortunately the file size is too big for a single disc so I have to split it.

Now I CAN split the file using TMPGEnc, but when I try to burn a VCD using the Roxio program, it tells me this:

"The file 'whatever.mpg' will not work in a VCD player. To make this file video CD compliant, you will need to use an MPEG encoder that supports Video CD encoding." \

It then says that the System Clock Reference (I have no idea what that is ) is "Not acceptable" and says that it is 1058. There are exclamation points next to Video Pack Size (2048), Audio Pack + Padding (2048), and Last Pack Size (2052). The exclamation point apparently means "probably OK".

Please help! This is so frustrating. If this cannot be fixed but you can suggest a better freeware splitting program, I would love to hear it. I tried to split the DivX file with Virtual Dub but when I go to save anything in Virtual Dub, a warning window says "The video mode must be set to Full Processing Mode for video compression to work". But I *DO* have it set to Full Processing Mode, and it still doesn't compress.

This is my first effort and I am extremely frustrated at this point! I appreciate any help.

    Kind regards

    Mark

Staind, thanks much for your help! That was indeed the problem. However, when I try to play the VCD, I don't get any sort of playback. I have a Toshiba SD-1300 which has been verified by other board members to successfully playback CDRs. When I pop in the VCD, the machine says "PLAY" but I get a blank/black screen.

    Any ideas?

thanks. I am posting this to the playback board as well.

    Regards
