  1. Hi you all,

After reading on this forum and testing for many hours I finally figured it out!!
After I authored my mpeg file in DVDAuthor, I used ImgTool classic to convert to a single ISO file. Then burned with DVDdecrypter...and voila!!!
Every disc(dvd-r +r etc) runs perfectly in my standalone player now!!!

What I would like to know now is: How the hell is this possible!!! I mean, I always used Nero to burn my dvd`s and it`s a program a lot of people pay a lot of money for... What does DVD decrypter different then Nero or Stomp`s RecordNow max?

Also what in your opinion is better: create the ISO file with Imgtool or after using DVDAuthor create it with DVDshrink?

    Thnx for all your help,

    Qeef.

I too have a drive that responds better to a program other than Nero. I really have no idea why one program would be better than another, other than that one might be burning it with different settings. As to your second question, I would say using ImgTool to create a ISO would be much better then using Dvdshrink.

I like to use ImgTool to to create the ISO becasue it allows me to add a personal folder. (That's an option not available on some authoring software.)

Personally, I've never gotten Decrypter to burn correctly. I always use Nero to burn my ISO files. Before I burn, I always re-boot with a minimal set-up.

    Check this link for comparisons.

  4. Qeef, you're fine. I've found if something is wrong with the authored DVD, oftentimes ImgTool will tell you. Although DVDAuthor is not terribly tolerant itself. Not a bad thing necessarily. (Hmm, you DO mean DVDAuthorGUI don't you and not TDA?) Whatever. Not necessary to use ImgTool if using DVDShrink, just output to ISO.

And it's hard to improve on burning with DVDDecrypter. As to Nero, I'd venture to say many people get it bundled with DVD burners. I'm not real fond of it, it's, um, cumbersome and a little glitchy.

    Good for you, nice post.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!
