My source is VHS, the movie is about 130min.
I don't know what a template is. All I know is that I followed, "www.vcdhelp.com" under the 'capture' section for "How to Capture using an ATI All In Wonder". I followed there instructions to a tee! I used mpeg1. Please help! Any suggestions

    ddubb,

    * which guide did you use?
    * did you use any of the standard templates, and which one?
    * did you make any changes in ANY settings, ie, bitrates for mpeg?

How MUCH bigger is the file, that it wont fit on your 80min cd??

1 - In TMPG, you have to click on the LOAD button, and select your template.
ie, if you want a VCD, (aka, VideoCD) then you have to click on the LOAD
button, scroll down to the VideoCD template and select it. This is MPEG1
2 - If you wanna encode an SVCD (aka, SuperVideoCD or SVCD) you have
to click the LOAD button, then scroll down to the SuperVideoCD and select
it. Note, if you're encoding for NTSC / PAL, choose respectively.
3 - Then, click on the Start or Encode button to begin encoding your AVI file.

If you did read the guide(s) here, then you know that its best to use a
bitrate calculator to figure out "How many CDs" you're gonna need or
at WHAT bitrate to set TMPGenc to to encode, etc. for what type of process
or goal you want. In your case, you want to fit on ONE cd, so, you'll end
up loosing quality, but you're not concirned, this is probably your first
VCD/SVCD and you just wanna score big time! ...you'll get there!
    Takes Practice!

Keep reading, and re-read some more. Sooner or later it'll all come
    to ya.

I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT BITRATE CALCULATORS AND/OR HOW TO USE
THEM, so please don't ask me!

I make SVCD's cause I want quality video to watch on my 13" puny TV, but I'm
quite content with it. Some day, I'll get a 27" or 36" or higher screen TV, or
    maybe even a W i d e s c r e e n TV, but that's sometime way down the
    future $$$

You are not going to get a 130 min mpeg1 capture on 1 vcd, you will have to cut it into 2 using mpeg tools in tmpenc or another cut and edit program.

    no way you'd fitt a 130min mpeg1 movie on a 80 min disc.
youll have to go with 2.

look under how to - edit to the left on cutting.
Well, I am the slime from your video.
