This burner worked great for a few months then it stopped reading burned dvds, eventually commercial dvds, and even started tanking on data cds. I upgraded the firmware, it didn't help. With dvd shrink, alcohol, decryptor etc i would get these i o error messages. It stopped reading everything. I unplugged my slave cd drive, formatted c and re- installed xp prof spi, and the pioneer burner works fine again. I have no clue what the propblem was. Maybe
service pack 2 conflicts? I dunno.

Mmmm. I no this won't help but I have a Pioneer 108, and I had Windows XP pro w/ sp1 and upgraded to sp2. Now I get an occassional computer total lock up when one of my drives goes to read a disc ( I also have a NEC DVD rom drive). This does not always happen, but when it does you have to physically power down the computer, can not ctrl/alt/delete. This is a pain! I've even tried different DVD-rom drives and burners to no effect. I've tried all sorts of things, but in the end I believe it is a problem with Xp sp2. All my software is updated to the latest versions to work with sp2 (Nero, firewall, anti-virus, graphics card, etc ). Since it doesn't happen all the time I can live with it, but it is a pain.

I had a similar problem when I upgraded to SP2. I uninstalled and reinstalled my burning software (Nero, DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter). After I reinstalled my burning software, I didn't have any more problems.

I have been using sp2 since 30 days prerelease with a 108 and have no problems whatsoever. I must be lucky.
The real answer lies in completely understanding the question!
