  1. Getting subtitles to play on a philips dvp 642 is a real pain in the butt. Infact to do it you either have to burn the files on a pc or vpc using nero or if you want to use a mac, you have to use discribe. I found a set of instructions on the dvp 642 hacks section that tells me how to do it, but I cannot get it to work. eesahmuu writes...there's two ways to burn a working .srt CD on a Mac ..
first -> use Virtual PC and NERO to burn ur .avi + .srt using the
    default settings
second -> use Discribe and CD-ROM + ISO Level 1 Settings.
well does anyone have an idea of what this means? I set up discribe, chose data disk, inserted my media file, and burned it using both iso-9660 and iso-9660xa. neither worked. I tried burning the file at work using nero as a safety and that one works fine. I really want to be able to do this at home on my mac. Has anyone done this? Any ideas or tips? I appreciate any help you can give me.

    thanks!

Get MissingMediaBurner and try it that way, as a data image. Other than that im not sure. The way I do it in Toast is the way that works on my phillips.

  5. Thanks for your suggestions, here is how I did it with toast. Selected data, selected ISO 9660, dragged in a folder containing the avi and srt (both with the same name) and hit record. When it came out and I put it in the philips, there was no folder in the menu, only the 2 files and the srt file had a ? icon on it. Is this how you do it? Thanks again for your help
