    i bought boilsoft's rm converter
    biggest rip-off i've ever had.....
what a waste of my money!
the program is garbage, no matter how you configure it, your resulting files have very bad progressively out-of-sync audio
their tech-support is bad too -- i asked them how to fix the problem and their reply was in bad Engrish
they said something to the effect 'use VirtualDub to fix the audio, that's what it's for'
    bastards...

TINRA is supposed to be good, but I haven't played with it yet, so i can't say for sure how well it does the job

I can suggest a foolproof method - don't use any software or media that is in any way associated with Real Networks. Real = TEH SUKC.

    sometimes you have no choice
episodes of Transformers Headmasters for example....
the show isn't on TV, so you can't capture it. and the only eps for download anywhere are .rm
Menasor was doing good HQ .avi's, but only did the first 20 or so eps, and they're all but impossible to find

Tinra will work fine as long as RealPlayer8 or earlier versions are installed. But, if RealOne or RealPlayer10 is installed, it makes Tinra inert and non-functional.

This isn't freeware ... but EOvideo will convert .rm files to AVI/MPG files.
