  1. Im having a problem w/my Sony and TDK DVD burners

the Sony is a 16x DVD Burner (i buy the 8x dvd's) and prior to a few days ago i could burn a 4+gb DVD in jus under 8 minutes, suddenly the reading and writing capabilities of this burner took a crap. Now it takes anywere between 1 1/2 hours to 3 hours to burn a 4+gb movie. I hadnt had any other programs running but Nero 6 at the time (which i always use) when it suddenly started to drag.

My TDK 4x DVD burner was even worse, instead of about 23-24 minutes to burn a DVD, CloneDVD estimated 240 minutes.

i scanned my PC w/Norton AntiVirus and ran the Adaware program but still i cant burn as i normally did. Did a System Restore back to the "Good Ole Days" and still nothing.

Please if any1 knows whats wrong w/my burners (or computer) can u please help me.

    thank u

    Pilferd

  2. they (well the Sony atleast) seem to be working normally now so im jus posting the help i received on another forum i frequent, hopefully if some1 else has this problem - this may help them (im bonsall):

submitted by huffmybrdwhat version of nero...because i believ they reliesed a new verion the other day
(6.6.0.8..i think) and it might be the media your useing(dvdr+, dvdr- or the brand)
also check the sony and TDK for driver updates..the only sony update i could find was a fermware update http://sony.storagesupport.com/legalagreement.zulu?dlid=dvdrw/downloads/710FWBY02/710A_BY02.exe but i dont mess with that stuff so i dont know how to explane it.so if anybody knows anything about fermware then please feel free to jump in

submitted by Bonsall thanks alot huff, i ran and installed the fermware and i jus burned constantine (about 1.83gb) and it burned @8x's in 2min30sec

looks like things are back to normal, i will try my 4gb movies when im done my second constatine

props sir, i think its fixed now, the only other thing i did was run another Norton full system scan (5 at risk files deleted), 2 more adaware scans (first time 8 files deleted then 9 items) and i manually went into my program files and deleted the spyware folders. but i did the virus and spyware scans B4 and it didnt help so i think it was the firmware update i needed.

    thanks again homie
