  1. It seems that this program gets lots ofgood reviews and adds nice updates on a regular basis. I'd like to use it a bit if it fits what I'm trying to do and can do it well. Basically, I'm taking DV footage from my sony camcorder doing some editing, adding photos, etc. in Pinnacle, then outputing as a DV-AVI file.

    What encoding engine does SVCDDVD us for DV to mpeg2 conversion? Is there any flexability in the encode settings? 1-pass? 2-pass? VBR.CBR? Can I use TMPGenc or Procoder within the program as I can with The Film Machine?

    How would users compare the output quality for DV to DVD with using TMPGenc to encode, TDA to author and Nero to burn (my current method)?

    Is DV to DVD considered a "strength" or weakness with this program?

    Thanks

    Engine is ffmpeg, i.e libavcodec the same as divxtodvd, quenc etc.

    1 or 2 pass VBR are the options available.

    Other encoders are not possible ATM.

    Quality - give it a try.

    DV to DVD is not a strength or a weakness: it is one of the many things the software does..... Download the demo and give it a try:

    - Drag you avi to the asset window.
    - Add it from there to the VTS layout.
    - Click auto fit (this will obtain the best bitrate setting for you).
    - Then Click the author icon on the tool bar.

    (there is a 2 GB asset limit on the demo but all that means is that it will only encode 75% of the assets after 2GB. So if you load up a 10GB DV file, for example, it will process 75% of it. that should give you an idea about the quality. Check the "Settings" for 2 pass etc...)
    SVCD2DVD v2.5, AVI/MPEG/HDTV/AviSynth/h264->DVD, PAL->NTSC conversion.
