Mustek 400a plus 2 Tuner Problem

I thought i better post info about this DVD home base recorder.

The unit has a TV Tuner built in, I was delighted at the machine apart from i could not get the TV tuner to Tune, Nor get the Unit to tune into the TV Via the RF ( ariel Leads). I tried 4 Tvs 2 diffrent houses same thing.
after phoniong the mustek tech support i was told it seemed faulty. take it back to the shop. i did and got another one.
Guess what same problem.

I then phoned Musteks tech support, after sevral frustating phone calls i received a phone call from them, saying that they too had the same problem and they could not foresee a solution and was a problem with the RF units IN ALL MODELS.
I asked if they were going to withdraw the machines?. the tech said " no it is not a serious issue". I said the only the reason i paid above the normal price was that it had the TV tuner. could you please phone/fax or even email my supplier to tell them?. ( as they only have my word on this)
they said " No we are to busy you will have to get them to phone us"

I returned with the machine for the second time to shop where i bought it from. they said that they will have to check them out and get back to me.

I am suprised at Mustek for not recalling the units.

Try to check TV tuner as following:

In DVD or TV mode on the remote controller push Return, Info., 8888 and arrow-down key.

Please chose for UK. IS=> SAMSUNG_PD23C_PAL_I
DE=> SAMSUNG_PD23C_PAL_BG
DK. SW, IS, NR,=> SAMSUNG_PD23C_PAL_DK
Push Enter.

Please check again to be sure your setup.

After tuner setup chose factory Reset or Auto Prog. System.

I have the same machine and the same problem. It dosen't say in the manual that there is an RF output from the modulator, ie, you can watch a dvd on channel 68 on the tv frequency spectrum, but it implies that you can by the "quick connection guide", where it shows a tv connected only via the rf output socket on the player/recorder.

I haven't been able to tune any tv stations with sound, great pictures but only white noise for the audio.
The German technical support were very helpful and sent me the codes for accessing the audio menu as described by Marcel56, but although the option to set the audio to PAL-I is there it has no effect.

I was sent an update on cd from them, this had no effect either. I was then emailed another update, this sorted out the audio, but the pictures are off frequency now and unwatchable, also the receiver only locked onto 6 tv channels instead of the original 18 that it found before the update, and they were all at the top end of the tuning range.
What a mess... Hopefully I will hear from the German tech support guy next week, he has been at a CEBIT convention this week.
