  1. I am using XP Pro and an ASUS TV-FM Card. When I open VirtualDub, it doesn't find any drivers. There is a WDM Driver for Asus that shows up when I configure the Home Theater app that came with the card but VDub doesn't see it. Where do the drivers go?

I am trying to convert VHS to DVD using the Asus card.
Can I do it this way? What am I missing

  3. VirtualDub can't use WDM drivers, only VFW.

This is incorrect, VirtualDub can use WDM drivers for capture. Sorry.

  4. Junkmalle, does that mean I just need to load a VFW driver or am I stuck with a card that only recognizes WDM drivers?

VFW (Video For Windows) is Microsoft's old video interface, now deprecated. WDM (Windows Device Manager) is the new interface that Microsoft wants everyone to use.

Unless you can find VFW drivers for your capture card you'll have to use a capture program that supports WDM.

my card only has WDM drivers and I use VirtualDub exclusively for capture......
I'm running VirtualDub with an ATI AIW 9000 Pro on an Asus A7N8XE-Deluxe mobo with XP Home edition.
When I capture, the only option VirtualDub gives me is the WDM driver.

Xylob, you are correct. I noted the error in my earlier messages. Thanks!

  10. So, where does that leave me? I too, have and ASUS A7N8X Deluxe MOBO.

Are there different WDM drivers that I can acquire that will be recognized by the ASUS TV-FM card and the ASUS board?

Shouldn't Virtual Dub recognize this WDM driver like any other? Do I have it installed in the wrong place?

You need a vfm2wdm wrapper to make it work!

    Virtualdub understands vfm

your best alternative - in case vfm2wdm driver don't work - is virtualvcr. This program is a native wdm capture utility
