    I can see why... Huh??

Is there a way to mount a VIDEO_TS folder as a disk image so that MTR can rip it from a hard drive instead of an actual disk? It would be nice to use MTR's title only feature on a multi-episode disk that's stored as a folder. The workaround I'm using is to burn the folder and rip from there, but skipping that step would be handy.

use toast or dvd imager to create an image file from the folder and mount it (remove discs from dvd drives though 1st)

yade x could also be used to open the folder too

How did the VIDEO_TS get to the HD in the first place?!

Otherwise live4ever's method will work for ya

  4. Why do you need to use MTR at all? The Video_TS is already ripped. Do you need to remove macrovision? Is the movie only you want to pluck out small enough to fit on a 4.3 disk? If not, you can use DVD2oneX to compress the movie only.

  5. I found that if you have a scratched DVD disk OS 9 can copy (in some cases) the contents to the HD, where OS X can't. Therefore you still need to 'rip' the VIDEO_TS on the HD in order to make a backup. Being able to specify a folder in MTR instead just a disk would be useful as I have to use DVDBackup at the minute.

    Are you sure about that?
    is the VIDEO_TS folder intact,
meaning have you played it al the way
through to make sure there are no errors
    in the copy?

I'm still baffeled by this...You should have
recieved an -36 I/O error ( cannot copy due to
parts of the disk being unreadable/protected)
    at some point....

unless the DVD had already been ripped and de-macro'd
    as point out by willrob....

MTR should be able to rip DVDs with read errors on most DVD drives in version 2.6.x and above.
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."

Yes, did it a few times already, just dragged and dropped the VIDEO_TS folder onto the desktop in os 9. I tried it in os x but got the error you suggested.

I'm baffeled too but it works, the only thing I can thing of is that OS X is more sensitive???

"unless the DVD had already been ripped and de-macro'd

These are from shop bought DVD's that my kids have almost wrecked, hence the backup.
