  1. i've searched and searched and cant seem to come up with an answer.
whenever i play certain avi's, the number bar on my dvd player skips and only plays segmented frames of the movie. i have been using ffmpegx to encode the files, and older avi's work perfectly. i encode to fit into a cd format, but everything i do cant seem to fix the problem. i assume that it has something to do with the framerates, but i cant be positive. it is really frustrating, and i dont really know where to start with any specifics. if anyone else has these problems with skipping avi's, please point me in the right direction. -thanks

Either the frame size is too large, or the bitrate is too high, or both. You'll have to play around with bitrate. The max frame size I've fed it successfully is 720x400.

  3. thanks for the reply. i initially encoded the avi's at too large of a file, (1.4g per 60 min movie) then tried to reencode the avi which is my problem... i've switched from mac the ripper and ffmpegx to handbrake and everything is ok... i just skipped a step and didnt revert back to the vob file to reencode the data. thanks
