  1. I recorded a short clip via firewire directly from my camcorder with WinDV and when I tried loading the clip in VirtualDub I get the following error message. Anyone know what's going on?

    That's beause it is DV1, Virtualdub wants DV2 only. Convert to DV2 and it will work.

  4. i got it solved. thanks. i had the codec already downloaded and forgot about it. i had to reformat my pc recently, so i'm still working on getting everything set back straight.

    If you try to put AVI 1 files (DV 1) into Virtualdub they will fail. Look in help or tutorials, this is basic stuff.

    Not true. VirtualDub can handle type-1 DV files, it just can't get the audio out of them.

    i have heard type 1 and type 2. i just hadn't heard them called dv1 and dv2 before. now i know and there's no confusion. and i was capturing type 2 in the fisrt place.
