  1. Well i have an DVD on my harddisk. THe Audo and Video directory. Read up on making SVCD's tempgen seemed good so i got version 3 xp. It read the VOB's fine. But it didnt reconise the AC3 files :S.

So I though hmm ok Tempgen DVD Author. So tried that smashing, ripped out an mpeg. Play back the mpeg from tempgen Dvd author and it plays fine in Power Dvd. Correct sound etc. I though smashing just run though tempgen xp3 to get it to SVCD. But it still dosnt seem to have the correct sound title.

Tempgenc seems the best option to begin with to get an mpeg from a vob with sound. But is there anything to get it into a small SVCD. Think iv read to many guides and confused myself. How do people do there Vobs to svcd?

    Confused rUSS

One step is to extract/decode AC3 to wav - Use DVD2AVI for this.

  5. If i go along the lines to use a programe to strip the sound from the VOB to wav, whats the best programe to strip the dvd to mpeg. If i use tempgenc dvd author to strip the vob video to mpeg then the virtual dub to extract the ac3 to wav?

  6. Yes you can use VDUB to extract AC3 to wav. But if you dont want to go through extraction of audio then you could use tools like - WinAVI converter, WinDVD Copy.

They will all read DVD file structure from hard disk and encode to VCD/SVCD compilant MPEG file.

Like I said: Use DVD2AVI to extract/decode AC3 to wav from VOB(s). Don't let the name scare you - it doesn't reencode anything to AVI format.
