  1. Hi a week or so ago I put a post on here saying I had problems backing up a certain movie and was told it may be this new type of copyright. However after reading the last thread from rich86 I couldn't be bothered writing anymore and just wrapped on that particular movie. I have now found another one and would like to know exactly what to do so I am able to backup all these future titles.
    Rich86 suggested the following:

Be sure you have downloaded and installed the latest versions of DVDDeCryptor and DVDShrink.
Rip the dvd with DVDDeCryptor - ignore the error messages. The latest version of the program seems to be able to handle what it finds just fine.

Then, use DVDShrink to transcode (if necessary) and re-author. Just use the "Open Files" button to access the files you saved from DVDDeCryptor. Numerous other programs can do this also, such as CloneDVD2. Then burn the output from DVDShrink with whatever burning program you normally use. I realize this entails 3 steps - but it works reliably.

I've ripped it with decrypter but when I come to transcode and re-author with shrink there are no files to open. Could someone tell me what I'm doing wrong please.
    Cheers.

So where did you rip it to on your HD, there must be something! Did you rip it in Iso mode? If so you need to either re-rip in File Mode, or use something like DaemonTools to mount the ISO as a virtualdrive and open the files from there.

  3. I rip them to my c drive as the name of the movie and video_ts. The destination looks like this.
    C:\movie name\video_ts
All of the files seem to be in order when I open the video_ts.
However normally when I run shrink I open the movie name and the following appears.
    NAME DURATION SIZE
    main movie 01:40.23 4,036

I then double click main move and title 1 appears in place of main movie. I then double click again and the film gets analyzed. What is now happening with these other copyrighted films is, I open the movie name and instead of it giving me name, duration and size it has the following
    NAME TYPE
    video_ts file folder

When I double click video_ts nothing further happens.

Look in that folder. I bet you five bucks that you find a "moviename.ISO" and "moviename.MDS" file in there, which is fine... just go to the file menu in Shrink and pick "open disc image".

    Try that.
