Where's the TGPO option when you need it? 8) (And how come TGPO creates a link to WMP? )

  4. The Film Machine using Procoder encoder.

Baldrick, which encoder do you use with TFM?

  5. I use the manual solution because there is no all in one using Mainconcept Encoder (the fastest for me)

  6. DIKO the only one that will do true PAL to NTSC (or vice versa) conversions, "easily".

  10. Have to go with lordsmurf. Never liked all-in-one or push-one-button solutions. Rarely used them.

i think he means to convert an avi into a dvd - as this is what a lot of these do -- not really back up a dvd .....unless your dvd collection is all on cd's

I like the TheFilmMachine and DVD2SVCD both. TFM is good for quick DV DVDs and I used DVD2SVCD for a couple of years till I got a DVD burner.

And who voted 85 times( At last count) for 'Other'?

Pinnacle Studio Plus to capture to AVI, then TMPGENC to encode and author, Nero 6.6 to burn. This works great for me because I don't like the fancy menus.

  17. Don't use... I like TMPGEnc Plus + TMPGEnc DVD Author (on the rare occasion I transcode DivX to DVD, which is once a year or something). Having a standalone (Philips 642) does have its advantages .

  18. DVD2SVCD, lots of options, and you can edit the script if you wish.

If I do use an all in one it is usually Ulead Videostudio 8 BUT I very much prefer to use CCE Basic + TMPGEnc DVD Author.
