  1. Thanks AlecWest. That's the movie!
If you know any in a similar vein let me know.

    Thanks again

Another great Asian movie is City on Fire. It was the film
that Reservoir Dogs was based on. I like "..Dogs" but
"City.." is a far better, and different enough to enjoy in
    its own right.

  2. ^^Yep, another great flick starring Chow Yun Fat. If you like Deer Hunter, you'll also like Bullet In The Head by John Woo.

No problem. Perhaps you could help ME identify a movie. I've racked my brain (and friends' brains) for years trying to find the title of the film ... and whether it's available on home video. But, it's not a foreign film so I put it in its own topic area:

I only got a handful of foreign films that are subtitled into English.

'Irreversible' is one example, a French film and banned in some countries.

The one I got is uncut and there is a few DVD titles in my collection as normally banned or modified in Australia.

Some of these foreign films I can order online from overseas are also commercially unavailable here as well.

This is one advantage of the Internet for these foreign films.

  6. As soon as a film is banned or heavily
censored in Australia, there are 1,000's of copies
    on the black market.

Even if you order a banned title overseas, there
is a 90% chance it will slip past customs regardless.

No problem at all and Customs is more concerned with illegal drugs, child porn and pirated DVDs than on banned titles coming from overseas.

I use to get mail confiscated all the time by ****...oops I mean CUSToms. Nowadays I think they're more interested in biological agents & materials for plutonium bombs slipping through the border... Lucky, coz I was proud to get SALO on DVD recently thru the mail! (Too bad about the hashish!)...

Has anyone seen that Chinese action flick called "On The Run"? Awesome!

    Those are a few suggestions....
"The Thief" is an awsome movie. Vladimir Mashkov is a very good actor. You can get this movie in any library in NYC.

Old Boy is a great movie.

I saw it a couple months back, and I'm definitely gonna pick up a copy in the near future.

Korea has a lot of great movies, IMHO, and if y'all have an Asian GF, you should learn to love Asian cinema. Every Asian girl, Korean or not, lovesd my Sassy Girl.

He can do a a wide variety of characters. Did you see him in Behind Enemy Lines? I didn't even recognize him. There's another movie about Russia in the Stalin era, East West, that's pretty good, and of course The Inner Circle is a good one. I also have an old copy on VHS of Ya sluzhil v okhrane Stalina (I was Stalin's Bodyguard), which is a good documentary.

I recently got Agoniya on a 2 disk set. If you haven't seen it, it's the story of Rasputin. Petrenko is very convincing as the mad monk, although the plot is very convoluted. But I guess everything was in those days....

What do you mean the ending was screwed up ? You didn't like the ending ?
