  1. First of all, thanks for the helpful web-site, it's helped me a lot. However, I still have a few problems I'm sure a few of you will be able to help with.

A little background on the issue. I've got a couple of video clips I'd like to burn onto a DVD-R to be able to play on a friends DVD player. The files are all .mpeg's.

    A) The only program I have that claims to be able to burn DVD format on my computer is Nero and the options it gives are as follows:

    Make a Video CD(VCD)
    Make a Super Video CD(SVCD)

Which option should I choose, that is of course if Nero will allow me to actually burn mpeg's onto DVD-R's. Any familiar with Nero?

    B) I have two files that I wanted to take portions of the video, which I used TMPGenc to do. I'm able to hear the sound during the video before I cut the video up, but after I cut it up and save the file, I'm unable to hear any music at all. Both are .mpegs. It's weird because all of the other files I've had no problems with, anyone have a guess?

Sorry for taking up your guys' time, hopefully you can help.

    A. Neither one, those are CD formats. If you have a DVD drive, (I have no idea what you have, as you haven't filled out your computer profile)

Nero should have DVD options available. It's a pull down selection that probably says CD now. Check the MPEGs with AVIcodec or similar to make sure they are DVD compliant. I'm not a fan of Nero for DVD creation, a dedicated authoring program (Such as TMPGEnc DVD Author) will generally work better. But if you have it, try it. You should see a selection of DVD-Video. Drop your files in there, but figure Nero will want to re-encode them even if they are compliant.

    B. Depends on the video. Cutting up a MPEG will sometimes just make the audio out of sync. If you have no sound after editing, maybe a setting?
