  1. Ok I have been trying to convert an mpeg from a tivo to go file. It has 480X480 resolution, 29.97fps and mp2 audio.

I am trying to use ffmpegx DVD mpeg2enc option. I use most of the defaults including, 720 X 480 resolution, and default bitrate (4000kbps)

Audio I have left at the default (.acs) and changed to .mp2. Under filters I have selected Deinterlace, and under options I remove the letterbox option and select "Decode with mplayer" (Quicktime cannot read this file).

I turn off Author as DVD because I want to edit it later.

Everytime I try run this I get this error:

    uninit video: libmpeg2
    Exiting... (End of file)
    INFO: [yuvscaler] End of stream!
INFO: [yuvscaler] Normal exit: end of stream with frame number 53906!

wait, encoding to mp2 audio with mp2enc...

So the file isn't mplexing and when I try to mplex it does it successfully but the file sync is way off and I cannot correct this. What can I do to fix this problem?

    Thanks
    jcpudd

  2. Tivo ToGo files have DRM and as breaking DRM is illegal, the feature can't be added to ffmpegX. However, Tivo said they are working to a Mac version of their software.

  3. Thank you, yes I know. I wasn't really asking about the Tivo decryption, I already have that down pat. I use virtual pc for that. Which is the reason why I removed it from the subject heading because I didn't want to give the wrong impression. This file is an decrypted mpeg from a tivo file.

BTW major I must say (without sucking up too much) that this program rocks. I cannot wait to see how ffmpegx 1.0 works.

I am testing something and I will post my results in case anyone has the same problem I had.

  4. Ok still no dice. I tried shortinging the location and name of the file and there are no spaces. Nothing. For some reason every time I try to run mpeg2enc it stops on the audio and doesn't mplex (ERROR: [mplex] Unable to open file...).

I then try to encode the audio from the source file and it works it just doesn't sync properly. Does anyone have any idea what to do.

    Thanks
    Adam

  5. If your source file is .mpg then you could try "DVD ffmpeg" with "Decode with Quicktime" (which also creates elementary streams for later processing).

  6. Yeah I wish I could use quicktime but it does not read the file properly. Also whenever I use the ffmpeg option the video is very choppy. So if you know a way around the choppy video I think that would work well.

Any other ideas? Thanks again for the help.

  7. If you can email me to major4@mac.com a link to download a clip of your file, i could make some tests with it.
