Is there software that will play a .wma audio in Mac OS X? I have a .wma file that won't play in the Windows Media Player even in Virtual PC, but in Virtual98 GSpot said it rendered in Direct Show, and played kind of choppy in the Windows core mplayer.exe. It wouldn't play at all in VLC, Audacity, WMPlayer for OS X, linux MPlayer, QT or Toast. iTunes won't even import it.
Opening the file in hexedit shows no id2 or id3 header, but hexedit says the type/Creator is ASF_/Ms01.
I just did some more checking and apparently the codec is Sipro Telecom Audio 130.

I found the codec with the necessary inf file, that will install under VPC and enable the virtual WMP to handle the file. Apparently this codec was at one time signed by MS, but is no longer supported. Someone who used it for web seminars posted the codecs for their participants. I don't have permission to link, but the inf name is acelpacm.inf and it comes with a file called sl_anet.acm. Opening the inf file in text edit shows $Chicago$ and notes it requires Win 95 and IE 3.0 !?!, that's how old it is. It doesn't sound very good, it's a mono audio at 5kbs, but it's streamable on dialup, which apparently is what made it useful.
