  1. I have found a program that will allow you to read VRO files from a DVD-RAM disk on a Windows 9x PC. WinXP/2K will read the disk natively, but Win9x will not. You still have to look out for the 4 gig FAT32 file limit of Win98. Your DVD drive HAVE to support DVD-RAM disks, not all drives do. Here is the link to the software, http://www.proton.co.jp/support/personal/download/instantread.exe

It sounds mean, but does anyone care? Every PC guy worth their salt has already upgraded to 2000/XP anyway...

Why does your system specs say you run XP home then? If you think ME is better than XP you have a few screws loose

Did you want to be more specific? I always enjoy a little WinME-bashing

What I thought interesting was a thread talking about WinME and DVD-RAM. It's like SuperISA and math coprocessors sharing a thread and making babies. And I'm done...

I hope more than a few folks can make use of this thread. It certainly is unique.

  8. Let me try to break this down. Skittlesen, a long respected member here at VCDhelp.com is pointing out an app for WinME. Studtrooper is countering by saying "nobody worth their salt is using ME." Studtrooper is wrong in this assumption. If anyone "worth their salt" was switching, I would not have to be studying Win98/ME for my A+ cert. So that's definately wrong. Skittlesen came back with the WinXP sucks line. I don't know if I agree with that either. There's a lot of good with XP. I fall somewhere in the middle. This is like trying to say that your 2005 Ford is better than my 68 Corvette. There's arguments both ways. Sure, you might survive a crash, buy I got the cooler looking ride easily. It's all a matter of opinion.

Good Lord, Microsoft themselves have completely asked the public for forgivness over then ME debacle. As far as I know, support has been cut and ME has been officially excised from the MS cannon. ME was a mistake, pure and simple. There is no sane reason to have it as a OS. Not trying to dis skittelsen or fmctm1sw, but honest to God, ME does not have ONE redeeming factor about it! As for why skittelsen hates XP, I'd love to hear why...

I used ME for years, and had I not needed NTFS, 1GB RAM,
or new Adobe software, I'd likely still be using it.

ME crap? No. Current? No. Outdated? Yes.
XP crap? No. Bloated? Only if you don't know how to tweak it.
