  2. It's the Players that are "Locked Out" The big boys want all the money, its the Players that make the game what it is"Great". The Head Guys dont want to share. I dont see that as being anything other then wrong. Overpaid? if you could get 1 million,I'm sure you would, who wouldnt?

I've seen some nascar. soooooo dull.

Rallying is way better. the different drivers actually have different driving styles and the cars they drive did start as productions cars. with £50,000 of modifications that is

Nascar is the most boring sport ever......it's a bunch of cars that are all the same going around a circular track for a few hundred laps......how is that interesting?

    Preach on 8)

We don't have anywhere near the following for rally here in the States. Yet. The SCCA dropped American rally so unfortunately it's up to an outfit here in Minnesota to take it over and try to bring the sport into the light here. However anyone I've ever taken to spectate a rally becomes a fan. Even my mom, who doesn't like motorsports at all, was pretty thrilled watching the cars whip past us through a corner of a gravel road. I've even converted two friends who had grown up living and breathing NASCAR and stock-car racing completely over to rally. One is even a crew chief for a team now. Both can't realize how they could have thought the old sport was better other than its roots in American culture (unlike rally and F1).

And you can't really compare F1 to NASCAR. I think there is only one NASCAR race where they actually have to make a turn other than in a single direction the whole time. F1 has some very tricky corners to navigate and at powers and speeds similar to NASCAR here. I think the skill required to brake/accelerate/corner/pass in F1 is quite more than the ability to accelerate/draft/pass on a NASCAR circuit.

I'm sorry, it has never fascinated me at all. If people go because they like the experience of the race and its fans more than the race itself that's fine. As I stated earlier I still think their service crews have a lot of skill, just as much as a Formula One crew, and for that I respect them. The rest I just can't bear.

well really my objection to F1 is how restricted all the cars are. they all look the bloody same apart from the colour.

Of course with rallying you can recreate it with some friends on the country lanes. see who can go round the corner fastest without going in the ditch!

  12. NASCAR is like the old Grateful Dead concerts. The show itself is pretty weak and way too long, and you have to be plastered to enjoy it... it's all about the scene and being a member of the fan base. I mean, the "3" sticker on a NASCAR fan's pickup is no different than the rainbow colored dancing bears on a Deadhead's car (except that the Dead fan takes more acid and smokes more pot).

You see! Now that's some funny shit! The truth of the matter may be that each event is possibly best veiwed by ones self. So that it can be paid more attention and better analyzed for what it is. I like live concerts for the music, not the screaming idiots that rush the stage. I also perfer drag races over most long races due to the short duration of the race and my attention span. (5000 horsepower and five seconds is POWER I don't care if you think that there is no skill involved or not, 95% nitro meth is some serios stuff!)

Anyhow love it or hate or don't care either way it's all just for fun!

  14. Just for the record (and full disclosure), I've attended about 8 or 9 Grateful Dead concerts, and a couple of NASCAR races. So, I'm not throwing stones here - I had a good time at both types of events. But what I said is true... and you all know it!

I saw the truth in it. It is all a state of mind. Either altered state or no mind at at all. I would have liked to see the dead and I don't really think that tripping would be needed to enjoy it (Lets just say enhance it)

If you are going to take the time and effort to be entertained then let yourself be entertained. Even if an event goes sour, you can still have some good memories of it. I have been to rained out races and concerts and eventhough it was mainly a bummer I still recall some of the good times. 8)

  16. I saw the boys in their later years... a few times when Bruce Hornsby was playing with them. They actually were playing better than they had when they were younger, as they mostly were sober by then. The fans, now that's a different story. I didn't trip, though (don't like it).
