    When I encode a film from avi to vcd it seems to playback jerky could anyone tell me what to do to solve this problem

    Probably the freamerate...

    Check the framerate in the DivX and compare to the framerate you want your VCD to be in...

    It's probably a NTSC 29,97 DivX and you want to encode to PAL 25... That causes jerky motion...

    Can't help you much more...
