  2. I've removed the junk from this post.

Squid said he was using Cucusoft MPEG/AVI To DVD.

I was actually trying to make two threads out of one hijacked one, but the user I was trying to help out was too fast!

    Sorry, Squid.

Use dedicated software for encoding, authoring and burning - allinones can't compete in the quality area. Take a read among the guides on AVI to DVD.
Tho, keep in mind that the end quality relies on the quality of your source material.

TMPGEnc doesn't spontaneously freeze. I still say it's either something wrong with the audio or video at that point, or with the codec. Load the AVI in VirtualDub and frameserve to TPMGEnc - that's whai I use when TMPGEnc wont open the AVI at all, and might fix your prob.

I would have bet my last shirt on bad frames in the AVI, yes, but since VDub MP3 Freeze doesn't report any bad frames, I'll drop that to "my second last shirt". I'm still rather conviced that there's something dodgy with the AVI that makes TMPGEnc choke, or that your codec is out of date.
