  2. Please do not post in all caps, it is considered shouting and bad forum ettiquette.

As to your problem, have you checked wether your DVD player will play DVDr (+ or -). You can check to see if yours is listed here

Firstly, my apoligies for the caps.
Secondly, I just checked if my player is compatable with DVDR+- and it is compatable with DVDR+ which is the type of disc I am using. It is a Pioneer DV-525.

Any other tips would be appreciated

  4. Well, freezing is a typical symptom of media/player incompatibility. You say your player should be able to play DVD+r, but have you got good quality media. Chevk the list again to see what brand media others have had succes with and try one of them.

I would say the problem is that your player just doesn't like the media brand. Three dvd players in the house.....two will play a backup I created, the other will play, but has a lot of distortion in the picture. Try playing it in a different player. If it plays fine, try switching brands.
Oh, I should say this. The backup was burned on a Maxell DVD-R made in Japan, so even high quality media is not guarantee of playback.

Thanks for all the great tips........the only thing is that I have backed up DVDs on the same media and they work fine on the same player. I'm not sure but this would suggest to me that the media is fine although they are only fairly cheap.
