    I've been looking for a list of file formats that ffmpegx will accept as inputs but haven't been able to find one. Does one exist?

    Specifically I am wanting to know if I can convert MPEG2 transport file format to xvid/divx etc. It has a .tp suffix.

    There is no exhaustive list of all formats accepted by all engines. I could perhaps compile one.

    mpeg-2 transport streams are supported by both ffmpeg and mencoder engines (and even by mpeg2enc if you also enable "Decode with mplayer"). You may need to rename the extension to .ts.
