  1. I' my trying to back-up my wife's copy of De Lovely without any luck. I am running DVDDecrypter with AnyDVD running in the background. First, AnyDVD pops up with the msg:

    WARNING!

    Failed to read DVD!

    This could have several reason:

    1. DVD Media is dirty
    2. DVD Media is damaged
    3. Your drive is a region locked RPC2 drive which does not allow reading of
scrambled sectors from a different region
    4. Your drive is an RPC2 drive that has not yet been assigned a region.

Then when I start DVDdecrypter it comes up with:

    I/O error!

    Device [1:0:0]_NEC DVD_RW ND_2510A 2.F7 (D (ATA)

    ScsiStatus:0X02
    Interpretation: check condition

    CDB: 28 00 00 29 14 A6 00 00 01 00
    Interpretation: Unrecovered Read Error

Is this a problem with my drive or is it the new encryption methods? Btw, the dvd is brand knew...right out of the box, clean and undamaged.

I've had DVD's "right out of the box" that had no "visible damage" but were screwed nonetheless. Could be wrong, but I doubt this is a new copy protection disc (not familiar with that movie). More likely a bad disc. One of my ROM drives will also reject good discs from time to time (it's getting old and dying).

  3. I suspect it might be my burner going south on me. I tried 4 or 5 of the dvd's that are kicking around the house and the only one I could do was John Q, and it took 2 tries to get that one. I had no problems until about 2 weeks ago and then suddenly I can't decrypt anything no matter what I use. Time to start price checking a new unit. What's recommended??

  5. I tried VOB Blanker and I must be not using it right because all it does is hang for me. (ctrl-alt-del after 1 or 2 minutes says program not responding) I'll give it another look though after I read some of the guides on here to see how to use it. Thanks for the help.
