I used DVD santa to convert avi and other files to dvd and then burn them to a dvd, but when i play them halfway through the movie the sound gets messed up and the voices follow the actors mouth like 5 seconds later. Is there something i am doing wrong in the conversion process becvause the original file is fine. Should i try a different converting tool. If so which one???

Hi, I dont really have an answer to your problem, rather I would like to make a continuation of your problem so I dont create a new thread similer to this. First off, which converting software is better: dvdSanta or Winavi. Are they worth the money to buy them? Also I tried winavi to convert .avi files to DVD files. When I tried to burn them using Nero I got a reallocation error. This never occured when I rip movies then burn them. Does this have to do with winavi or am I just doing something wrong. The movie I was converting from avi to DVD had multiple avi files, does this make a difference at all?
Thanks. -
WinAVI is better. IMHO. Santa should go back to the north pole and hibernate....indefinitely...
Nero 6.6 has a problem, burn anyhow, it usually works, or go back to 6.3
If you want to get the best encodes from your avi's, use a standalone encoder, and good authoring app.
Don't expect all-in-one programs to do everything well. They usually do some things fairly well, and other things poorly (like audio sync).Cheers, Jim

For Nero I was using 6.0.0 actually, I should probably upgrade, unless you guys think 6.0.0 is good enough. Its done the job so far.
"If you want to get the best encodes from your avi's, use a standalone encoder, and good authoring app." What exactly does that mean?
And do you think Winavi is worth 30 bucks?
When converting avi to DVD with winavi does it change the process at all if you have the movie broken into multiple avi files?
Sorry to ask so many questions. I'm just a newbie and thats why I'm here. Hoping to get the answers so I can be the helper soon. :P -
A standalone encoder is just that. It does nothing but encode files to the proper mpeg-2 format.
Mainconcept mpeg encoder, Canopus Procoder, Tmpgenc, CCE, and QuEnc are a few.
Author the DVD in something like DVDLab or Tmpgenc DVD Author.
I do not think WinAVI is worth $30.
If you're going to do this more than a couple of movies, you'll get tired of it's limitations and lack of quality.
Doesn't matter if you use one big avi, or multiple little ones, depends on what sort of DVD you want to make.
Nero 6.0 should be fine. If it works, don't fix itCheers, Jim
