Does anyone know when the DVD-R DL media will be available in the market for purchase ? And for how much ?

Actually, looking at this screenshot again, it shows that this disc has not been burned yet, it's blank, so this is not a proof yet that DVD-R DL will be burned with DVD-R booktype.

From my understanding you won't be able to change the book type in the recording process because it's pre-recorded, just like you can't do it for single layer DVD-R. But I guess time will tell if I'm right...

Just to clarify, that's my understanding too.
But we simply won't know until we get a disc in our burner.

I checked Amazon.jp (Japan's Amazon.com) after getting a hunch.
Using Babel fish, I was able to get this:

Price: XXYEN 1,307 (including tax)

Dispatch possible time:Sale due date of this commodity is 2005/04/21. At present it is in reservation acceptance.

From what it looks like on Amazon.jp you can only pre-order this item. There are *some* english translations abailable.
