  7. I don't want to get carried away like I did once before in one of your threads, but those spikes...are very suspect (as in possibly inaccurate). Errors that high should cause MAJOR slowdowns in your transfer rate test, but there's no slowdown at all where those errors are being shown on the disc. Confusing Do the spikes show doing the PI/PO quality test with Nero CD-DVD Speed?

Steve, I was using my PC at the time, and had already started a re-scan, without heavy PC usage. When I get spikes like this, I ALWAYS rescan to see if I can duplicate results. I am editing the prior post with the current scan.

And by the way - the other thread you're talking about, (I believe CMC-R), I scanned several discs burned on several writers, all with the same results.. :P Not just one instance, heh. So I stand by those results.

Hopefully you didn't misunderstand me, I could tell you were having genuine issues with that batch of AE1s, I was only saying I hoped not to make this thread into a long journey like that one

I just felt I needed to comment as that scan looked VERY suspect, I didn't trust it was accurate just by looking at it. It appears my suspicion was warranted :P I typically HATE Optodisc, worst discs I've ever used were some old -R discs, but I've used some of the OR8 discs (8x +Rs) and they are actually pretty good discs . Everything I've heard about these OR4 discs seems to say that they are of very similar quality to the OR8 discs. I don't feel like trusting them though, I've had some HORRIBLE Optodisc media in the past.

Your scan looks very similar to my OR8 scans, minus the one spike. It's interesting that your first scan was so messed up from overuseage, I've never had issues doing scans while multi-tasking on my computer. (My processor is hyperthreading though, so maybe that makes the difference).

Steve, I was ripping another disc on NEC (using DVD Shrink), and have TMPG Encoder going as well..both in low priority though. It's the DVD Shrink that screwed the scan, though, i'm pretty sure. Heh heh...both on the same IDE channel, and all...as normally TMPG dosnt hurt my scans.
