    When I installed NERO on a new hard drive it won't recognize CD-rs.
    Anyone have any ideas why.

    There is a menu selection at the center top of Nero Start Smart. Click on it and select CDR. I suspect yours is set to DVD. You can also set it to both if you don't want to switch it back and forth when you switch from CDR to DVD and vice versa.
