  1. Hi,

as a newbie, I tried out some guides about a conversion from divx to vcd.

There are some issues to mention:

    1. The newest releas of VirtualDub 1.5.10 has different menu than VirtualDub 1.5.1 (referenced in guides). The main thing is, that there are no "Sound" Menu and no option to "Save WAV".

    2. TMPGenc doesn't supports the MPEG Layer III audio, so you need to extract from the avi the wav first with VirtualDub. Otherwise, there will be no sound on the output mpg file. All the gueides says, that you need to do this only if the avi has AC3 sound codec...

Actually, if you extract the wav first, not only the sound will be correct, but the conversion will take instead of 7 hours only 1h30m (with my PC configuration). The wav extraction takes only few minutes.

I think you have downloaded VirtualDubMod, which has this menu layout. VirtualDub 1.5.10 certainly has those features. VBMod version no is 1.5.10.1

In VirtualDubMod, you extract audio from the streams list.
TMPGenc do support mp3, but not VBR mp3.
