  1. I read this guide: http://www.jonesgroup.net/media/dvdworkshoptwostepone.htm

and have one question now. I understand that this can be configured to not reencode DVD compliant files. I have a question about the AC3 part though. Since my source audio will not be AC3 (it will be PCM), is DVD WS2 smart enough to NOT encode the video along with the audio? Will it treat the two files completely separate?

No I don't think you can do that... I think it's a yes or no kind of setting you can't pick and choose. If there compliant there left as is PCM or AC3.

However If all your files are the same you can set the properties of your output to match the properties of the videos, change the audio to AC3 and it should only do the audio.

Yes, in DVD WS 2.x, you have control over how to treat the Video and Audio separately. Assume both are compliant, you can still tell DVD WS 2.x to Convert the audio only, and leave the video alone.

In the EDIT step, select the VIDEO tab, and use the checkbox for "Convert to disc template" -- if you want to convert a compliant video stream to your new settings. Under the AUDIO tab, you have the same option to "Convert to disc template"
