  1. Am putting together a media server for the house, and one of the things I had problems with the last time I tried this was a good HTPC software package.

I have a Hauppauge PVR-350 card for the TV display and capture, and a reasonably fast system (AMD XP 64, 512 megs RAM, nVidia 256 meg Video Card, 200 Gig System HD, DVD/CD-RW, 4 250 Gig Data Drives). Also have a Dlinkx eXtreme G wireless system that I'm planning to use to drive a Hauppauge MediaMVP downstairs.

With all that, it "appears" that my choices are BeyondTV, Sage TV, or GB-PVR. I'm tempted to go with GB-PVR because of the price tag (grin), but having gone to so much effort I'd rather pay a bit more and get a great solution if the others are significantly better. I know that there are "preview" versions of the other two, but I'd rather not spend weeks trying different packages if there's a recommendation y'all can make. Of course if there's something else I haven't looked at, that would be good to know too.

    Thanks in advance,
    Ewan

  2. Appreciate the links and a couple more titles to look at.

However, any recommendations from personal use you could share?

    Thanks,
