  1. Svcd2dvd v2 seems to create a slight problem on my philips dvd player, when there is a chapter point the movie pauses, then skips forwards to catch up. This only happens with material from SVCD source and only on my philips player, and happens regardless of what program is used to create the svcd mpeg, the same mpegs can be used in dvd-lab to create flawless svcd-dvd's. The chapter problem also doesnt happen on every chapter, I suspect it may be something to do with the GOP structure, and the frame in which the chapter is inserted, however I am no expert so I could be wrong. If you want me to upload a log file and a set of Vobs for you to look at chrissyboy I will, just let me know. I have scanned through this forum and their are a few posts regarding similar problems, many of which have gone unanswered, so I cant be the only one with this problem.

Sure upload the files. Is this at the point where mpg files change ot chapter points within an mpeg?

  5. I'm uploading the files now, they are in a folder called "philipschapterprob" IT checked them on my dvd player again, as not all chapters have the problem. With SVCD2DVD the problem chapters are 5,8,9,10. I tried to put the chapters at the points with dvd-lab, and there are slight (not as bad as svcd2dvd) probs with chapters 9,10 only. Could take a while to upload tho as its 1.6gig in total.

  7. All uploaded now, except original mpeg, although as the same thing happens with all svcd mpegs It should'nt make too much difference, I will upload it if you need it tho. As i said in the above post not all chapters have the problem, and by attemting to recreate the exact chapter points with dvd-lab I got problems on chapters 9,10 also, although not nearly as bad.

no offence britincanada, but your post is irrelevent. It certainly is not my player that is screwed, my model is dvp-520 so it may have totally different software to yours. I have many disks, original and backups, only the dvd-svcd's have the problem. If I took an avi file, converted it to 720x480, then did another version 480x480 only the 480x480 would have the problem. It may only be a small problem, but there have been a few other similar posts regarding this sort of problem, so if chrissyboy has the time it is worth looking at.
