  1. Anyone recommend a decent DVD authoring program with good menus. I've tried various programs, Ulead VideoStudio, Roxio, etc. but they seem to have only a small selection of menus/themes and for some reason don't support menu text such as Play Movie, just screen thumbnails instead.

Tmpgenc DVD Author seems to be OK for simple menus. If you want more complexity, be prepared to put in the hard yards and create most of it from scratch. I use DVD Lab Pro and photoshop for stills, and after effects or Vegas for motion work.

  3. How about Ulead Video Workshop? Seems to have lots of animated and text menus to choose from.

  4. I agree with guns1inger: DVD Lab Pro is fantastic and without a doubt the best value for the money. Even if price is not a consideration it beats anything in its class until you get to studio-level professional tools.

If you really don't want to get too deep into custom menu creation you'll have to settle for templates. Sonic DVDit! is not bad as well as Sony DVD Architect 2. Ulead DVD Workshop 2 does have decent templates if that is your main consideration, but I found that customizing them was not user-friendly.

  5. DVDLab Pro with DVD Menu Studio. The possibilities are endless.
