VHS Brand Quality?

From 3M technology. If you're really interested in finding the best quality tape get a Mitsubishi VCR circa 93-95, they will test the tape and give the results and rate quality. As long as the heads are clean they will do a very good job of it. Nowadays the name brands are pretty much the same, not near as good as they used to be. The best tapes I've ever seen are 12 or so year old Sonys, the gold tapes almost peg all three meters.

All TDK grades have served me extremely well. The mechanical parts seem to be particularly robust 8)
