  1. Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knows which DVD recorders will create what I call "randomly accessible" DVDs. I have Intervideo WinDVD, and when playing a title there is a slider bar on the bottom which allows you to jump to any point in the title. The slider bar works with all the movie disks I've tried, but it doesn't work with the DVDs created on my Liteon LVW-5001.

    The questions I have are:

    1. Is there player software which can randomly access any DVD?
    2. Is the ability to randomly access a DVD dependent on how the DVD was created?
    3. Which DVD recorders can create DVDs which can be randomly accessed by commonly available player software, such as WinDVD?

    Thanks,

  2. Did you remember to finalize the DVD on the LiteOn?

I remember I have read a post saying that DVD+VR format does not allow "Go To Time". The disc created by Liteon is in DVD+VR format.

Can any one confirm what I remember?

Yep -- have to finalize in order to play the DVD+R's on my computer.

The idea that DVD+VR is not able to randomly skip around on the disk
is interesting. Does anyone have any data on whether the same holds
true for DVD's created from a DVD recorder + hard drive when the
video is first captured to the hard drive and then burned to a DVD disc?
