Just bought a Panasonic E85 from Circuit City for $399.
The manual say it can write DVR-R up to 32X speed.
I am not aware of any 32X DVD-R. I use a 4X to dub a 2 Hr movie and it seems to take less than 10 minutes.
    What's going on ?.

  2. Nothing's going on. It's just burning at faster than the content's length. It's just a dvd burner burning dvd data, 32x is only regarding vs. the actual time of the recordings. You can burn 6 hours of video in about 10 minutes for that matter, if you recorded in '6 hour' mode (EP?).

Don't think in terms of recording time, think in terms of data tranfer, ie. the amount of time taken to transfer 1 hour of XP recorded data is the same amount of time as transferring 8 hours of EP recorded data...4 Gig = 4 Gig = same amount of time for transfer...

  5. 16x top dvd writing speed.....

Boy, at 32x, a disk would fly out the dvd door....

    But I like those explanations.

    $399 at circuitcity.com online, instore is +$100
    $362 at buydig.com

Im thinking of that 95hs model instead. $424 or something at buydig.

    Handyguy,
I bought my E85 for $399 from a Circuit City store in Covina, CA. I am sure it is the same elsewhere.
