  1. OK I have gotten my home video from vhs all the way to a finished product on the hard drive. I finished the author job with TMPge author1.6. There are 7 chapters and one menu to call them up, simple right?
But it is a few MEG too large. DVD shrink doesn't seem to allow me to keep the menu, just flashes it once in the beginning of the play then you cannot get back to it.
To test it, I dropped one VOB file and burned to a DVDRW and the menu is fine.
Any simple way to shrink this and keep my menu? Am I missing something in DVD shrink?

    Hello,

Yeah after you author it go to dvd shrink and "open files". Then pick the video_ts folder of the completed project. Do a FULL BACKUP and it SHOULD back it up to fit a dvdr. It won't lose anything as long as you keep everything selected. And since its so close to fitting there will be virtually no quality loss.

(keep fooling with the compression settings if it doesn't do it right on the auto setting)
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

  3. Thanx, I'll give it a try. I was using reauthor and dragging the two files over.

  4. NO luck on this try. Opened the files and they appeared on the left under "full disk backup" then I hit "backup" and DVD shrink did its thing, fit it all on one disk. But still only a half a second of menu and the rest of the movie plays. Then you can' t get back to the menu.

  8. Jim, I read your rant and a few of the replys.
If it wasn't that I really do not give a rats ass, I would be offended you point it in my direction. I have read many of the guides and posts, I have searched for answers. That is how I have gotten from VCD to DVD, All with the help of this board.
My question may have been dumb by your standards but Yoda31 was able to help me out. If I am not mistaken, that is what this board is about, helping others with video questions.
If you think the question is beneath you, don't answer!

Again, Thank You Yoda313 you are most generous.
