A friend uses his DVD recorder to record TV shows that he can get (that I want to see) that are not offered in my area (we only live 30 miles apart but different cable companies and channels). He then edits out the commercials and authors the discs and lets me watch them.

They do something very strange though when I play them back. While I am watching them, all of a sudden the show will jump several minutes further along in the show. Usually about 2-4 minues I think, is how far. Many of the times, but not all, is when the show was fading to a commercial. Another common "jump point" is at a scene change, but sometimes though it is right in the middle of a scene (never while anyone is talking or anything though).

I have been trying to figure out why it does this. It does not do it in all of my players, the one it does it most often in is my CyberHome 300.

I thought it might be the media, but I have tried copying the various discs to good TY media, running them through DVDDecrypter and reburning them, and the new discs perform *exactly* the same as the old, even jumping in the exact same spots. Oh, and the jumps are always the same - if it jumps in one particular spot, it will always jump in that spot, they don't do it sometimes and not at others.

If I notice a "jump" has occured, I can rewind to the point it jumped, hit fast forward, and get past the "jump point", hit play and it plays fine (until the next jump point).

Any ideas? Very weird.
