I have only used Verbatim DVD-R+ 4x since I started to use DVD.
    They have worked perfect.
But for the last 20 DVD i have noticed that some discs have one or two very little black dots in the layer.
The discs were clean before burning and I use a Nec 2510a (latest official firmware) to burn them with.
I always burn them at 2.4x speed.

I tested the "dotted" discs with Nero CD-DVD Speed and the result was perfect. Nothing wrong with the discs. And there has been no problem playing them in my Pioneer 656A.

Has anyone of you had the same problems?
I mainly use the discs to save important fotos och home movies from "the good old days" so I must be able to trust the quality of the discs to last at least 10 years.

Verbatim has a good quality but the little black dots bothers me and makes me concerned.

(I hope that my english is good enough)

  2. If there is any dust on the dics, it can be dots like you describe in the dye after burning.

Your english is as good as mine and Im a product of the Canadian school sysytem.
I've seen those dots on bad discs used as an example at nomorecoasters.com and they were shown to show how poorly cheap media is produced, but if you dont have any problems with them, I cant see why they would cause you any trouble in the future.

    The dots are very small.
    Like needle points.
You have to look real close to see them.

Well they work fine anyway and i burned 3 more today and they looked perfect to so i guess that i donīt have to be concerned about this.

    Another question:
Does Verbatim 8x have a higher layer quality than the 4x?
Or what is the difference between the two discs part from the speed?
